You know what caught me off guard about Saly Apart? The fact that it’s earning an 8.8 rating despite being a 3-star place – and honestly, after spending time there, I totally get why. This isn’t one of those aparthotels that tries to be everything to everyone and ends up being pretty mediocre at most things.

The first thing you notice is how quiet it actually is. I mean, you’re still in Saly, so there’s the usual buzz of activity during the day, but the way the building is positioned – sort of tucked back from the main drag – means you’re not dealing with street noise all night. The apartments themselves feel lived-in in the best way possible, like someone actually thought about how people use spaces instead of just making them look pretty for photos. The kitchenettes are small but functional (I managed to make decent coffee every morning, which is honestly my main requirement), and there’s enough counter space to spread out if you’re the type who brings back ingredients from the local markets. Speaking of which, you’ll find some great produce vendors just a short walk away – the kind of local spots that most tourists never stumble across because they’re staying in the big resort complexes down by the beach.

What really won me over was the staff’s approach to things. They’re not hovering around trying to upsell you on tours or restaurant recommendations, but when you do need something, they actually know their stuff. The guy at reception – I think his name was Mamadou – gave me directions to this incredible little seafood place that I never would have found otherwise, and he was spot-on about timing our visit right before sunset. The whole vibe is refreshingly low-key, which I realize might not be everyone’s cup of tea if you’re looking for that full-service resort experience. But if you want a base that feels more like staying in a neighborhood than being a tourist in a bubble, this hits the mark perfectly. The Wi-Fi actually works (tested it extensively while catching up on work one rainy afternoon), and there’s decent water pressure in the showers – those practical details that can make or break a longer stay. I’d definitely come back, probably during the shoulder season when things are a bit quieter and you can really appreciate how well-positioned this place is for exploring Saly at your own pace.

  Great location, awesome view from the balcony, modern, equipped with all you need.
  
  What could be improved: It’s not that I didn’t like it, but providing a laundry gel for washing machine could be helpful. I stayed only 3 days and needed like 1 wash. I couldn’t justify buying a new pack just for 1 use.

  Great location if travelling by bus as it is less than 5 minutes from the bus station.
  The apartment itself is very nice and modern.
  The owners were easy to contact and the self check in was super easy and quick.
  
  What could be improved: Had to pay in cash, it was not a big issue but I personally would have preferred to have paid electronically as I was travelling for a few weeks prior to my stay here.
