What I found, though, was actually one of those rare places where the reality exceeds whatever modest expectations the simple name might set.

The thing about Becici that most people don’t realize is how perfectly positioned it is along Montenegro’s coast. You’re getting all the gorgeous Adriatic views without the absolute chaos of Budva (which, don’t get me wrong, has its place, but sometimes you want to actually hear the waves). This apartment sits right where you can walk to the beach in maybe two minutes – and I mean the good part of the beach, not where all the tour groups cluster. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing because the whole setup feels like someone actually lives there part of the time, not like a sterile rental property. There’s this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – proper coffee setup, shower pressure that doesn’t make you want to cry, and honestly, the kind of little touches that suggest someone’s grandmother had input on the decor choices.

What really got me was stepping out onto the balcony in the morning. The view hits different when you’re holding your first coffee of the day, watching the fishing boats head out while Budva’s old town catches the early light in the distance. The apartment itself is spacious enough that you’re not constantly bumping into your travel companions – which, if you’ve ever shared a tiny European rental, you know is worth its weight in gold. The kitchen actually functions (shocking, I know), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase the entire time. Parking was surprisingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven along this coast will tell you is basically a minor miracle.

I mean, a perfect 10 rating sounds almost too good to be true, but after staying there, I get it. It’s not trying to be fancy or impress you with marble everything – it’s just really, really good at being exactly what you need when you want to experience this part of Montenegro properly. You’re close enough to walk into Budva for dinner and nightlife, but far enough that you can actually sleep at night. The beach right there is honestly some of the clearest water I’ve seen along the coast, and during shoulder season especially, you’ll have stretches of it practically to yourself. If you’re the type who likes to wake up, grab a coffee, and be watching sunrise over the Adriatic within five minutes, well… this is probably going to make you pretty happy.
