Stan Stari Grad Budva Overview

First Impressions

Walking through the ancient stone streets of Budva’s Old Town to reach Stan Stari Grad Budva feels like stepping back in time — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes this place so special. This three-star boutique hotel sits right on Cara Dušana street, which means you’re literally living inside medieval walls that have been standing for centuries. I mean, how many places can you stay where your morning coffee comes with a side of 2,500-year-old history? The hotel’s intimate setting creates an atmosphere that larger properties simply cannot replicate, offering guests an authentic connection to the destination from the moment they arrive.

Location Magic

The location here is absolutely unbeatable — and I’m not just saying that because the official score is 9.7 out of 10. You’re steps away from the Citadel, the marina, and those gorgeous Adriatic views that everyone comes to Budva for. What I love most is that you can stumble out of bed and be at a seaside café in about two minutes, or wander the cobblestone streets without dealing with any of the chaos from the newer parts of town. Couples especially seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 9.6, and honestly, I can see why.

There’s something undeniably romantic about falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping against ancient stones. The proximity to major attractions means you can maximize your time exploring rather than traveling, making this location ideal for visitors who want to experience the true essence of the Old Town without sacrificing convenience or accessibility to key landmarks.

The Authentic Experience

This isn’t your typical hotel experience, and that’s the whole point. The building itself has character — thick stone walls, traditional architecture, and that slightly uneven charm that comes with age. Your room might not have all the bells and whistles of a modern chain hotel, but it has something better: authenticity. The staff actually knows the neighborhood (they’ll point you toward the best local spots), and there’s this genuine warmth that you just don’t get at bigger properties.

Neighborhood Insider Knowledge

Here’s what you need to know about staying in the Old Town — mornings are magical and quiet, but evenings can get lively with tourists and locals mixing in the squares and along the walls. The beauty is that you can retreat to your hotel whenever you want a break from the action. Also, parking can be tricky in this area (it’s medieval, after all), so definitely coordinate with the hotel ahead of time if you’re driving.

Why Guests Love It

People keep coming back here because it offers something you can’t manufacture — genuine connection to place. You’re not just visiting Budva; you’re actually living in its heart for a few days. The 9.2 overall rating speaks to guests who appreciate character over cookie-cutter comfort, and who understand that staying within these ancient walls is worth any minor trade-offs in modern amenities. It’s the kind of place where you’ll find yourself taking photos of your hotel door because even that feels special.

Budva hotels provide guests with luxurious accommodations in Montenegro’s premier coastal destination, known for its crystal-clear waters and medieval architecture.

  • Aoife from United Kingdom – 6 September 2024 (8/10)

Incredible location for exploring Budva. Such a pretty part of the town to be based in and amazing to be near so many restaurants, beaches and historic sites. The host was fantastic and really helpful, even helping us organise transport.

  • Elvis from United States – 25 August 2024 (10/10)

Clean, Quiet ,comfortable bed, cold air conditioner, close to everything, Nemanja was great.

  • Stephen from United States – 11 July 2024 (10/10)

Wow! Everything about this place is top notch! It's spacious, comfortable great wifi, small but very good kitchen, great AC and superior location. Communication was very good

What could be improved: Very minor point, add some ice trays. A laundry pod or two would be very helpful.

  • Fulya from Turkey – 6 July 2024 (9/10)

Apartment is very clean, location is near the every touristic places.

  • Andrew from Australia – 6 July 2024 (10/10)

Great location owner organised a better parking rate which saved us money

What could be improved: Parking was a problem and expensive

  • Sean from United Kingdom – 19 June 2024 (9/10)

Good communication with owners before check in, and they met us outside the apartment to hand over keys and show us the ropes. Good kitchen and laundry facilities. Bed was comfy, although a tight fit, so not easy to walk around it. Flat was surprisingly quiet. Cash only, but ATM around the corner. Close to travel agency too. Enter old town by Shanghai restaurant to get to the apartment.

What could be improved: Perhaps a little dark, but given its location, unsurprising. No balcony, but a very short walk to lovely views.

  • Ekaterina from Russia – 15 June 2024 (10/10)

Location is top! You live inside the fortress, in the heart of the old town in one of those narrow crooked streets that every tourist adores, and the beautiful beach is about 100 m from you. There are several other beaches around which are all different but all are beautiful. The flat itself is clean, cozy but spacious enough, has everything needful. The hosts are very nice and helpful, caring for your comfort.

  • V from Montenegro – 16 May 2024 (9/10)

Easy communication with the host, location, and cleanliness

  • Ali from Turkey – 24 April 2024 (9/10)

  • Zoe from United States – 19 June 2022 (10/10)

The host is incredibly attentive & helpful and the location is perfectly in the center of Old Town!
