You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Villa Andrea 1 – honestly, the name made it sound like there might be a Villa Andrea 2 somewhere that was probably better. But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. It’s got that authentic Italian villa feel without trying too hard, if that makes sense. The kind of place where you immediately start walking slower and speaking in lower tones because everything just feels more refined.

The thing that really struck me was how quiet it gets in the evenings – and I mean properly quiet, not just “we turned down the lobby music” quiet. You can actually hear yourself think, which is saying something for a 4-star place. The staff genuinely seems to know what they’re doing too, not like those places where you can tell everyone was hired last week. Check-in was smooth, no hovering around the desk for twenty minutes while they figure out your reservation. The rooms have this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake – real wood furniture that’s actually been cared for, linens that feel substantial when you touch them, none of that scratchy hotel bedding nonsense.

What I really appreciated (and this might sound weird) was how they handle the little things. The bathroom actually stays warm after you shower, the WiFi works everywhere including that dead zone most hotels have near the elevators, and – this was a game changer for me – the walls are thick enough that you’re not listening to your neighbor’s entire phone conversation at 11 PM. I mean, for a place with a 9.1 rating, you’d hope for decent soundproofing, but you’d be surprised how many hotels mess this up. The breakfast situation is solid too, though it gets busy around 8:30 if you’re trying to beat the crowds. Go early or wait until after 9:15 and you’ll have a much better time. There’s this little courtyard area that most people seem to miss where you can actually sit with your coffee and not feel like you’re eating in a cafeteria. Look, Villa Andrea 1 isn’t going to blow your mind with flashy amenities or over-the-top luxury, but it does everything really well. It’s the kind of place that makes you think “yeah, I could stay here again” instead of “well, that was fine, I guess.” Sometimes that’s exactly what you want.
