Villa Casa di Pietra – Budva Old town
Villa Casa di Pietra – Budva Old town
You know what?
You know what? Villa Casa di Pietra surprised me – and I mean that in the best way possible. The name literally means “stone house,” which honestly sounds a bit pretentious until you actually see this place tucked away in Budva’s Old Town. Then it makes perfect sense. The building has this weathered stone facade that looks like it’s been watching over the Adriatic for centuries, and there’s something genuinely charming about how it blends into the medieval walls around it.
I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t luxury territory (it’s a solid 3-star), but sometimes that works in your favor. The rooms have character instead of cookie-cutter hotel blandness, with those thick stone walls that keep things surprisingly cool even when it’s blazing outside. The 8.0 rating makes sense once you’re there; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the fundamentals really well. What I loved most was stepping outside and being right in the heart of everything – you’re literally a two-minute stumble from Citadela, maybe five minutes to the harbor where all the restaurants spill out onto cobblestones. No need for taxis or figuring out bus routes, which honestly is worth its weight in gold during summer when Budva gets absolutely packed.
The staff actually knows the area, too – not just the obvious tourist spots but where locals grab coffee in the morning or which beach clubs are worth the hype versus overpriced tourist traps. They pointed me toward this little konoba (traditional restaurant) down a side street that I never would’ve found otherwise, and it ended up being one of those perfect evenings you remember years later. Fair warning though: you’ll hear some street noise, especially on weekends when people are wandering between bars, but that’s just Old Town life. If you need dead silence to sleep, maybe look elsewhere. But honestly? After a day exploring Montenegro’s coast or hiking up to the fortress, I was tired enough that a bit of distant laughter and music actually felt like part of the experience. The whole vibe just works – it’s unpretentious, genuinely local, and you feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual history instead of a generic beach resort.

What Our Guests Say
Great location, was right in the old town and next to a great pasta place. Room was spacious and comfortable. Had a communal terrace and kitchen
The location is fantastic, within 1 minute walk of many great bars and restaurants in Old Town Budva. The host was very helpful/friendly with the airport transfer and recommended things for us to do in Budva.
What could be improved: Slightly dated facilities/decor but completely acceptable.
We highly recommend it!
The biggest advantage is the location - right in the center of the old town. Everything, including beaches, shops, and restaurants, is within easy reach. If someone values sleeping in complete silence, they might not find it here, but for us, it wasn't a problem.
Another advantage is the very helpful owners! They recommended beautiful places and gave us great directions, and the airport transfer was convenient!
What could be improved: The only remark is that the bedding and towels were slightly worn.
The Host was very helpful and easy to communicate with. She made it very easy to check in and organised a taxi for us to Kotor and back for a day trip. The location is great and right in the old town with the beach and restaurants very close by! The apartment is well air conditioned and has everything you need for a great trip!
The location of the hotel was very good and was in the center of the old town. The house was spacious and clean.
What could be improved: Since the house was on the last floor, it had no windows or balconies.
Excellent location within the walls of the Old City.Fairly quiet considering this is a major beach side tourist destination with plenty of night-life. Comfortable room with plenty of natural light and some views.
Aleksandra was super friendly and helpful at check in - made me feel very welcome!
What could be improved: Slightly worn around the edges but comfortable, clean, big and and in an awesome location!
Very central to old town and the beach
Very good location. Clean place. Good communication with owner.
Excellent location, clean and great communication.
Comfortable bed, amazing outside area, and a kitchenette available for use.
I'd definitely return, thank you.
What could be improved: Smell of cigarette smoke.
The velux windows had permanent coverings which blocked out the natural light. This would have been fine if I could reach to open but they were too high. Maybe a pole available for guests to open?
Brilliant to have a kettle and mugs in the room, a tiny amount of tea/coffee would have been ace (I'd happily have bought some but was only staying a night).
