Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Villa Katarina? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street – Stefana Mitrovica – which honestly feels like a bit of a discovery when you’re coming from the chaos of Budva’s main tourist strip. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from all that Old Town madness, but here you’ve got these tree-lined streets where locals are just going about their business. The building itself has this understated elegance thing going on – not flashy like some of the newer places, but you can tell someone put real thought into the details.

The staff here really gets it, and I think that’s what pushes this place into that 9.5 territory. Check-in was seamless (arrived around 2 PM on a Tuesday), and they actually knew the area well enough to steer me away from the tourist trap restaurants. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – clean lines, decent space, and thank god, proper blackout curtains because Montenegrin summers mean sunrise at like 5:30 AM. What I didn’t expect was how quiet it stays, even during peak season. You get these little glimpses of the Adriatic from some of the higher floors, nothing dramatic, but it’s there. The air conditioning actually works – which, trust me, isn’t a given in this part of the world during July and August.

Here’s the thing though – Villa Katarina works because of where it sits in Budva’s ecosystem. You’re close enough to walk to Slovenska Beach in about eight minutes (I timed it), but you’re also positioned perfectly for day trips along the coast. The local bus stop is literally around the corner if you want to hit Sveti Stefan without dealing with parking, which gets absolutely brutal in summer. Breakfast was surprisingly good – proper local cheeses and that dense Balkan bread, not the usual hotel buffet nonsense. And honestly? The price point makes sense. You’re getting boutique hotel vibes without the boutique hotel markup, which in Montenegro’s increasingly expensive tourist scene, actually matters. I’d come back, especially in shoulder season when Budva shows its real personality beyond the beach club crowds.

Best hotels in Budva range from charming boutique properties in the historic old town to elegant beachfront resorts with stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and surrounding mountains.

  • See you in the future 🙂 !! – Rachel from Croatia – August 26, 2022 (10/10)

Fabulous and friendly staff. We felt welcomed from hello. They were helpful in answering any question we had and we were checking out at the normal time and they asked us if we needed to leave our bags for the day or wanted to use their facilities after… so sweet. Will be returning. Loved loved the location as well – in this magical little village/town. Good breakfast. Our room had a side view of the water. Great breakfast with choices – Luka makes a great espresso 🙂 and Milica was so lovely. Nice family-run business.

What could be improved: Nothing 🙂

  • Enjoyed my stay – Svetlana from Serbia – August 19, 2022 (9/10)

IT is well located next to the best beaches. The staff was helpful and friendly, answering all my questions and approving a late check in as much as it was possible. Thank you for the holiday!

What could be improved: The bed in my room was not really comfortable but maybe it is because I am used to sleeping on hard mattress.

  • Exceptional – Efstathios from Greece – August 16, 2022 (10/10)

really spacious room with very nice interior design. spotty clean. the pool even thought is small was just what was needed after a long trip. The beach in 2min walking. The store just in the corner with anything you may need. nice restaurants in the beach. checkin and checkout really smooth and fast. private parking spots on site.

  • Quiet place for quiet holiday – Radim from Czech Republic – August 12, 2022 (10/10)

A hotel-like equipment, quiet place, reserved parking place, welcoming staff, small but lovely swimming pool, tasty breakfast, regular cleaning, new and well upkept facility. Voli shop just around the corner, restaurants nearby.

What could be improved: Prepare for visiting beaches other than the closest to the villa.
