When you first pull up to Visnjeva street (and yes, you’ll probably miss the turn like I did), this place doesn’t scream “luxury hotel” from the outside. It’s more understated than that, which I actually appreciate after dealing with so many overdone resort lobbies along the Adriatic coast.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve nailed the balance between being polished and feeling authentic. The rooms – and I mean this – actually deserve that 9.6 rating they’ve got. Everything works the way it should, the AC doesn’t sound like a freight train (huge win in summer), and honestly, the attention to detail reminds me more of a high-end boutique place than your typical 4-star. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, which you know isn’t always a given in tourist areas. I remember the guy at reception giving me specific directions to avoid the main Budva traffic mess – turns out there’s this back route that saves you like 15 minutes during peak season madness.

Here’s the thing about the location that most reviews won’t tell you: you’re close enough to old town Budva that you can walk there without breaking a sweat, but far enough up the hill that you escape most of the party noise that can honestly ruin your sleep in July and August. And parking – which is basically gold in Budva – isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the beach. The whole area has this residential feel where you’ll see actual Montenegrins going about their day, not just tourists stumbling around with sunburns. There’s even this little bakery maybe two blocks away where locals grab their morning burek, and the coffee is better than what you’ll find in most hotels. Villa LuceSole gets the fundamentals right in ways that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The WiFi works everywhere (tested it by the pool), breakfast isn’t the usual sad buffet situation, and they’ve somehow managed to keep things quiet even when they’re full. I mean, after spending time at some of the beach hotels where you can hear every conversation through paper-thin walls, the peace here feels almost luxurious.
