Villa Maxima Budva Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Villa Maxima Budva on TRG SUNCA, you immediately get why couples are so smitten with this place — honestly, the location is pretty much perfect. This three-star property sits right in the heart of Budva’s old town, and I mean right in it, not some “walking distance” situation that turns into a 20-minute hike. You’re literally steps away from everything that makes Budva special, which explains that impressive 9.7 location score from couples.

The Heart of Old Town

What I love about staying here is how you’re positioned right on one of Budva’s main squares — TRG SUNCA translates to Sun Square, and trust me, it lives up to the name. The medieval walls of the old town are practically your backyard, and you can wander down to the marina or hit the beach without breaking a sweat. Actually, some of the best seafood spots in Montenegro are within a two-minute walk, and the evening buzz from the square creates this perfect Mediterranean atmosphere that you just can’t get from hotels stuck in the newer parts of town.

The Room Experience

The accommodations here strike that sweet spot between comfort and character — you know what I mean, where it feels authentic without being rough around the edges. Each room has this understated charm that works really well with the historic setting, and honestly, when you’re spending most of your time exploring Budva’s cobblestone streets or lounging on nearby beaches, you want a place that feels like a proper retreat. The views vary depending on which room you get, but even the interior-facing ones have their charm since you’re looking out over traditional Montenegrin architecture.

Dining and Daily Life

While Villa Maxima doesn’t have its own restaurant, this actually works in your favor because you’re surrounded by some incredible local spots. There’s this little family-run place just around the corner that does the most amazing black risotto — I mean, you’d never find it if you weren’t staying right here. The morning routine is pretty relaxed, and you can grab coffee and pastries from several cafes within a minute’s walk, then plan your day while watching the old town come to life.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.2 rating really tells the story here — people consistently leave happy because Villa Maxima delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. Couples especially seem to get it, probably because there’s something inherently romantic about staying in a place where you can stroll to dinner through medieval streets, then walk back holding hands past illuminated stone walls. The staff understands that location is everything in a place like Budva, and they’ve clearly chosen their spot well. You’re not paying for fancy amenities you won’t use; you’re paying to be in the absolute best part of one of Montenegro’s most charming coastal towns.

  • Alen from United Kingdom – 19 October 2024 (7/10)

The location of this apartment was perfect – right in the centre of Budva. The host was very friendly and accommodating.

  • Kasianova from Netherlands – 1 October 2024 (9/10)

Lovely apartment in an excellent location, just a 3-minute walk from the beach! Helpful staff and welcoming owner.

  • Stoian from Ukraine – 24 September 2024 (8/10)

The location is probably the best thing about Villa Maxima. Because basically everything is at walking distance. And you don't need to climb any hills) and you don't need to take an extremely expensive taxi to get to anything you would like to visit along the seashore or in the center and come back to your place. The hosts are very friendly, kind, delicate and helpful and not annoying or disturbing.

What could be improved: There were some small things that needed to be fixed around the apartment like water taps.

  • Arwyn from United Kingdom – 12 September 2024 (9/10)

  • Йонко from Bulgaria – 25 August 2024 (9/10)

Perfect location – everything was 5 mins away. Host was great and really supportive, gave us much needed advice on beaches and parking. The beds were comfy, bathroom was clean, the balcony was great – even though you can barely see the sea as there are tons of new developments that hinder the view. Highly recommend!

What could be improved: Budva is really crowded place. Driving and parking is a nightmare, especially during peak hours. Beaches within the city limits were awful – Mogren beach is the nearest one worth visiting and it is magnificent! You can actually walk to the beach although we took the car.

  • Mikhail from Russia – 8 August 2024 (8/10)

A very pleasant mansion with kind old owners and young energetic staff. It is located in a small beautiful garden with fig trees, A very friendly dog and a relaxed cat in the yard help to feel at home. It is located just 5 minutes walk from the beach, there are many restaurants, bars and shops nearby. The rooms are good, and I especially likes a big balcony with two tables, multiple chairs and even a sofa. There is also a terrace on the roof for all the guests.

What could be improved: This part of Budva is very noisy. All the night there are people shouting and singing. Equipment in the rooms and in the bathroom could be better. Kitchenette is really dated, as well as almost all the things in the bathroom. The shower curtain is really a shame. Everything is clean and works, but very old and you are not sure of for example the hair dryer will not fall apart in your hands.

  • Aleksandra from Serbia – 8 August 2024 (9/10)

    Location is great

What could be improved: There was no hot water in the evenings.

  • Jamie from United Kingdom – 5 August 2024 (8/10)

Location was perfect with the beach a 5 min walk away and old town 15min walk away. The room was exactly what we needed for our group of 5. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

What could be improved: The plumbing in the bathroom was an issue as the toilet struggled to flush most times however it did not affect the stay.
