Hotel Description

You know what struck me first about Villa Velzon? It’s tucked away on Mainski Put in this quiet residential pocket where you can actually hear yourself think – which, if you’ve spent any time in central Budva during summer, you’ll appreciate more than you might expect. I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s still Budva, so there’s definitely some energy in the air, but this spot feels like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than being stuck in some cookie-cutter tourist trap. The guesthouse has that lived-in charm that a lot of three-star places try to fake but rarely pull off. The owners clearly know their stuff – they’ve got this balance down where it feels personal without being intrusive, if that makes sense.

What really won me over was how the place sits in relation to everything else. You’re close enough to walk into Old Town (honestly, it’s maybe a 10-minute stroll once you figure out the little shortcuts), but you’re not dealing with the constant parade of people stumbling back from Slovenska Beach at 3 AM. The neighborhood itself is pretty authentic – there’s a little bakery around the corner where locals actually go, and you’ll see kids playing in the streets during those lazy afternoon hours when the tourists are all napping off their beach hangovers. Parking can be a bit of an adventure, like everywhere in Montenegro, but there’s usually something workable nearby. The rooms themselves are solid – nothing fancy, but everything works, the beds are comfortable enough, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t make you want to throw your laptop out the window. I actually liked that they didn’t try to over-renovate everything; you get the sense this place has some stories to tell.

The thing about Villa Velzon is that it gets the fundamentals right without pretending to be something it’s not. The 7.7 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s not going to disappoint either. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about helping you figure out Budva beyond the obvious tourist checklist. They’ll point you toward the better beach spots (hint: skip the crowded main stretch), recommend restaurants where you won’t pay tourist prices, and generally treat you like someone they’d want to see again. During peak season things can get a bit hectic – this is Montenegro in summer, after all – but even then, there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole operation. If you’re looking for that sweet spot between budget hostel chaos and sterile hotel efficiency, and you want to experience Budva like someone who actually lives there, Villa Velzon hits that target pretty well.

  • Overall a nice, clean and simple place. Very nice and helpful staff. Also really affordable. – Nikola from Norway – August 8, 2025 (10/10)

I really liked the location, was a 10 minute walk to the beach

What could be improved: None shower gel and similar provided

  • Small parking space, most of the time overcrowded – Ermira from United Kingdom – August 24, 2022 (2/10)

What could be improved: Asked to clean the room and I was expecting them to change bed sheets, they didn’t 🥹

  • i wouldn’t recommend to anyone – Saimir from United States – October 2, 2022 (1/10)

we didn’t like the conditions of the rooms. It’s was expensive for what they offered to us. in booking they were marketing a room that was not available when we reserved. it smells bad in the room.

What could be improved: next time show exactly the available rooms. we did complain and they discounted a little bit the other room that was smelling.

  • Good – Róbert from Hungary – May 11, 2023 (7/10)

Barátságos, kedves személyzet. Jó elhelyezkedés, közel a tengerparthoz.

What could be improved: A konyhában az étkezéshez a felszerelés elmaradt a vártaktól.

  • Good – Martina from Czech Republic – August 1, 2025 (7/10)

Ubytování bylo čisté, dostatek úložného prostoru, strategické uprostřed Budvy. V okolí obchody, stánky i fast food. Parkování bylo k dispozici, I když velmi těsné, není vhodné pro větší auta. Recepční milé a ochotné. Poměr cena-kvalita byl výborný.

What could be improved: V kuchyňce chyběla varná konvice, pánev, vařečka, nůž. Jinak bylo vše v pořádku. Ideální na pohyb po městě jsou koloběžky, aby člověk mohl projet okolní pláže. Pláž přímo v centru byla přeplněná se špinavou vodou. Okolní pláže pak byly v pořádku.

  • Good – Anne from Estonia – July 28, 2025 (7/10)

Hea asukoht, läheduses erinevaid söögikohti, poekesi. Sõbralik personal.

  • Odmor u Budvi – Marko from Serbia – July 27, 2025 (9/10)

Lokacija, mesto za parking, miran deo, odlična izolacija, klima u sobi, frižider, ostava za garderobu, kupatilo. Izuzetno žensko osoblje, prelepa gazdarica, izuzetna ljubaznost.

What could be improved: Nedostatak terase, mali krevet u širini, nedostatak sapuna, kupke, kuvala za kafu.
