I almost drove right past it the first time because it’s tucked away in this quiet corner of Krimovica that feels completely removed from Budva’s chaos – which, honestly, turned out to be exactly what I needed. The drive up from the main coastal road takes maybe ten minutes, winding through these old stone villages where you’ll see more goats than tourists, and suddenly there’s this beautiful villa that looks like someone’s wealthy aunt decided to open her family home to guests.

The thing that really got me was how genuine everything felt. I mean, you walk into most hotels and there’s this sterile perfection, but Villa Harizma has character – like the way the morning light hits those traditional stone walls, or how you can actually hear crickets at night instead of traffic. The owners clearly know their stuff too; they’ll tell you about the hiking trails that snake up into the hills behind the property (seriously underrated views of the bay), and they actually remember your coffee preferences after day two. The rooms have this perfect balance of local charm and modern comfort – think exposed beams and locally-made textiles, but with proper air conditioning and Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes like half the places along the coast.

What really sold me on this place was the location, though nobody talks about Krimovica enough. You’re close enough to zip down to Budva’s beaches when you want that scene – maybe fifteen minutes if traffic’s decent – but far enough away that you escape the summer madness completely. There’s this family-run konoba about a five-minute walk down the hill where they make the best lamb under the bell I’ve had in Montenegro, and the old woman there will insist on bringing you homemade rakija whether you ask for it or not. The villa’s breakfast setup takes advantage of all this local connection too; fresh bread from the village bakery, honey from someone’s cousin’s beehives, that sort of thing that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special rather than just booked another hotel room. Parking’s easy (which, trust me, matters when you’re dealing with Montenegrin coastal roads), and the whole property has this relaxed vibe where you can actually unwind instead of feeling like you need to be “on” all the time. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra night just because leaving feels premature.
